Harrrooooooo! :)
My first week in Garland was awesome. I love it.
The area is not that big (but we still have a car hehe) and the area is
poorer. also, the members are so helpful. 14 of the lessons we taught
last week had a member present! Oh yeah, and we have 9 baptismal dates! I
kept thinking to myself, where are these people coming from? A lot of
the members are converts and think very highly of the missionaries. One
member told me last week that eating dinner with the missionaries was
like eating dinner with Jesus. It made me think of how King Lamoni in
Alma 18 thought Ammon was the Great Spirit... Missions are really cool
because they really make the scriptures come alive- as missionaries we
really can relate to the stories in the Book of Mormon.
This past week I met some great people who are ready to hear the
gospel. One man, Roberto was so ready he wanted to get baptized the very
next day! Sadly, he had to go to the hospital and might not come out
because he has cancer and might die. We also visited a less active
family because we were prompted to go and it turned out to be a really
neat experience. The dad told us they've been having lots of problems in
their family and then he kept asking us who sent us. Who sent us? Well,
Heavenly Father did. And it's so neat to think that God sends us to
visit His children. That's a great responsibility and privilege to be literally on His errand.
I know that God lives and loves each of His children individually.
He wants us to have success and happiness in this life and He helps His
children through other people. Tender mercies are all around us!
Love
